A Great Story Out Of A Terrible Natural Disaster

The recent hurricane devastations in Texas and Florida have been horrific and impacted so many homes and businesses it is hard to fathom. Where there is bad there always is opportunity for good and we had a chance to be a part of that so I just had to share this great story we were privileged to be a part of.

First, let me say this is why we love doing business in the insurance industry. Seeing how an agency truly cares for its customers and goes to incredible lengths to serve them is what makes us proud to be a part of it.

We got a call from Setnor Byer Insurance and Risk who is in south Florida. They were looking for a temporary remote set up, thinking that we provided an after-hours solution because of hurricane Irma.

While we do not provide that service, we realized we had an incredible opportunity to help them and those they insured who were in the path of Irma as they were obviously concerned that a class 5 hurricane would compromise their ability to respond to claims.

Apparently, they had set up 5 people to fly to different parts of the country to escape Irma who needed phone service so we got to work and quickly installed the system on our in-house demo system so their agents could field phone calls.

They had AT&T call forward to our new system and they used our Bluewave Communicator software to be fielding phone calls and getting voicemail to email within an hour. Setnor Byer Insurance and Risk fielded hundreds of calls from their insureds that would have gone unanswered otherwise.

As it turns out, their clients did not use Setnor Byer’s 24/7 after hour hotline, despite having broadcast this service for over 10 years. As it turns out, in times of crisis they resorted to dialing the main number which rang through due to Bluewave’ s VoIP service.

Anita Byer and her team literally took care of their insureds from as far away as North Carolina and as she said “it was a God send to us and our insureds”.

It is absolutely incredible to me that any company would go to such an extreme as to FLY people to alternate locations to service their customers.

Bluewave is very proud to know people like Setnor Byers and be a part of an industry like this who would go to such great lengths to take care of their customers.
